  • Where I bought it: Amazon
Rayman Legends + Rayman Origins Double Pack
Games Included
  • Rayman Origins
  • Rayman Legends

This nifty little package contains both of the main Rayman series games based on the UbiArt Engine – Origins (released in 2011 for consoles, 2012 for PC) and Legends (released in 2013). Each game comes on its own DVD, whose content appears identical to the original versions released individually. Since none of the later “definitive” editions, nor any of the spinoffs have ever seen PC releases, this can be considered as complete a collection of the UbiArt era you can get for the PC. (Note: a similar bundle was released also for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita consoles).

Rayman Origins is completely DRM-free, as it has been in every retail release. It comes with Ubisoft’s Game Updater (gu.exe) to patch the game to the latest version (you may need to run it twice to update first to 1.01, then to 1.02). Rayman Legends integrates with Uplay (now rebranded as “Ubisoft Connect”) online DRM; the activation key is included in the box. The client will search for updates every time the game is started. As the online services for Rayman Legends has been shut down indefinitely by Ubisoft, any multiplayer content is no longer available. There disks themselves are not copy-protected, and do not need to be present to play either game.

Multi-language Support

Both games allow choosing the language during installation, and quite a few options are available; consult PCGamingWiki (RO, RL) for the full list. Post-install, the language in Origins can be changed via the registry, as described here (the same limitations apply, which means Russian, Czech or Hungarian will probably not work). For Legends, the game needs to be reinstalled, which can be done at any time through the Ubisoft Connect client – the DVD is not required.

What else do I get?

Just a small pamphlet with the controls for both games + technical support / warranty information. All the game manuals are available in PDF format on the respective DVDs, but a physical booklet (at least in English) would have been nice.

The Rayman Origins disk that came with my copy is actually from the 2013 Rayman Collection for Windows, not the original retail release. I don’t know if all copies are like this, but I would have prefered the design of the original retail DVD. Oh well.

Summary

This is a very nice package for those who like physical copies of their games without them taking too much shelf-space. The incomplete language selection options for Origins, and the Uplay annoyances for Legends are not something I can hold against this bundle, since all retail copies of the game have the same limitations. A nicer presentation (like a Steelbook case), or a richer bundle of extras would have been welcome. If the extra language support in Rayman Origins is important to you, I recommend the GOG release, which includes all of them 100% functional.
